JMB believe modular building is the way of the future.
From a small family business run out of the backyard shed to leading the way in innovative construction, husband and wife team James & Rachel Briggs are the people behind JMB Modular Buildings.
James’ journey in the trade began as an entrepreneurial 14-year-old. Having completed his carpentry apprenticeship and establishing his own business in his late teens, from early on James was known not only for his meticulous craftsmanship, but also his attention to detail, and vast building knowledge. This has lead him to being recognised within the building industry, elected as Chairman for the North East Sector of the Master Builders Victoria for consecutive years.
Upon marrying Rachel in 2013, together they dove head first into the business as the team continued to rapidly expand. With her background in accounting, Rachel brought another level of professional experience and knowledge to the business.
Determined to escape the norm, James discovered modular living in 2015 and hit the ground running as he embraced this innovative solution, believing it to be the future of construction. With a dedicated team of tradesmen passionate about modular design, JMB Modular Buildings has gained valuable momentum as people across the country comprehend the vast benefits of modular living.
Having received national recognition through the 2019 Australian Construction Awards (coming runner up for ‘offsite construction project’ and shortlisted for ‘architectural design’), James’ passion for the trade has reignited as he pushes the limits to create unthinkable luxury.
WHAT WE DO
Modular construction is the process in which a building is constructed off-site within the compounds of an enclosed, controlled environment. It uses the same building codes and standards of a traditional build – but in up to half the time.
Modular buildings are adaptable to all environments and applications, from stunning homes to pop-up cafes, bars, multi-storey apartment blocks, theatres and schools --- the options are endless.
All our projects are designed to brief, budget and site constraints and are independently certified by a structural engineer. The buildings are produced in modules that when assembled on site, reflect the exact design intent as that of a traditional build.
As a registered builder we love to be involved from the initial concept of your project through to the completion of the build; we handle all paperwork and council requirements, organise all trades and guide you each step of the way.
Whether it's choosing one of our ready made building designs or working with our design team to create your own masterpiece, we'll ensure your project will be architecturally inspired leading the way in design, aesthetics and innovation.
We are constantly researching new building methods and materials, ensuring your project is built to the highest standards, and giving you all options of the latest state-of-the-art claddings and finishes.
We love challenging people to think outside the box when it comes to designing a modular home or commercial build, and encourage all of our clients to put their own unique flair on their projects.

We will become an industry expert, by exploiting the advantages of the processes and systems we have developed from years of modular project experience, and research and development obtained here and abroad. Our moving production line will be at the forefront of industrialised construction, with standardisation of products, engineering and 3d models, producing economies of scale by manufacturing in house, creating vertical integration, and maintaining a lean business structure.
